Design Your Dream Interior! 5 Home Decorating Tips You NEED to Know About

There are currently 127.59 million households in the United States. So how do you make your home stand out from the rest?

With a home decorating project, you can give your home an upgrade while maintaining your distinct style. That way, you can accomplish the dream interior you’ve always wanted.

Give your home the makeover it deserves with these tips!

1. Wall to Wall

Let’s start with your paint colors! Flow is important, especially on the first floor. Neutral tones like beige or gray (or griege!) can minimize transitions.

That gives you the flexibility to decorate however you want. It also makes it easier to switch up accessories without causing a clash with the walls.

Try painting the walls at the entrance of your home a cool neutral color.

Then, move up or down a shade in nearby rooms to make the transition appear natural.

2. Let the Light In

Beautiful, natural light can make even the smallest room look much more expansive. Instead of heavy cotton curtains, opt for lightweight, gauzy fabrics. Try golden sheers matched with full-length panels.

This will let the sunshine in without leaving your windows naked.

Window dressings should remain functional, yet elegant. This can help make the space appear more inviting and larger, too.

3. Kick Out Clutter

According to this research, there are over 300,000 items in the average American home.

Don’t let this clutter take over! Using these home decorating tips, you can minimize the clutter and let your home’s beauty shine through.

If you need a little help, call on a fresh pair of eyes. A professional organizer can tackle the bookshelves and closets to help you cut back on the clutter and get back to your life.

4. Raise the Roof

No, not literally! A few visual tricks can make the ceiling look higher, though, especially when they appear on the low side.

To start, make sure your ceilings are painted white. This can make the room appear less claustrophobic. Then, hang your curtains higher than the windows.

This can trick the eyes into perceiving the room as taller than it is.

Vertical stripes can help elongate your walls too. Finally, finish off the look with a large, leaning mirror against the wall.

Once that’s done, you can shop here for the accent items you need to finish off the look.

5. Mirror, Mirror

Speaking of mirrors, adding one to each room can help the space appear brighter. Just make sure it’s placed in the right spot.

Try adding a mirror on a wall perpendicular to any windows. This will help light bounce against the walls to light up the room.

Otherwise, the light will bounce right back out the window, which won’t do you much good!
